Udine University's Formula One Electric debut: a success!

Twelfth out of 40 participants, up from 20th place in the debut a month ago, and fourth for the business plan project. In Spain, the University of Udine students' electric single-seater, making its foreign debut on the Catalan circuit of Montmeló (Barcelona), recorded a marked improvement in performance in the second race of the international Formula Student championship.
On the Spanish circuit, 21 of the 40 teams on the track from all over Europe belonged to the "electric" category. Italy was represented by only two teams, the Uniud E-Racing Team and the University of Rome "La Sapienza" team. The 12th place is the result not only of the results on the track but also of the judgment on the technical checks, among which the 4th place, out of the total 40 participants, in the presentation of the business plan stands out.

The competition-The technical inspections, which characterized the first part of the race for three days, were even more stringent than in Italy. In fact, they included a check on the battery compartment, as well as the electrical and mechanical ones. The race then got into full swing with the three dynamic tests on the track: acceleration, dry fast lap, 22-kilometer endurance. Of the 21 electric cars entered, 15 passed the technical screening and took to the track, and of these, only 5 completed the endurance test.
The Championship - Formula Student is an international competition in which college students design, build and race single-seaters powered by electric or internal combustion engines.

In 2024 new car - "At the end of the second race experience we can say that it was a success," stresses the scientific head of the Uniud E-Racing Team project, Luca Casarsa. "The car performed better than at the debut in the Parma circuit in Varano, thanks to the fine-tuning tests done immediately afterwards, plus we received important feedback that will allow us to improve the project. From September we start working on the 2024 car."
